Right As Rain Eclectic: Maine Art For Home and Heart

About the Artist
On That Whole Outsider Art Thing
As a painter, my heart and soul belong to the observer, singing songs of home and nature's guardians of light. I bridge Maine's wild, rocky shores and whispering wilderness with our indoor spaces. My work is an exploration of the Divine Feminine, seeking the sovereign and holy spark of the soul through spiritual portraiture. Dreamy spirits of earth, air, fire, and water invite the viewer on a magical journey. The jewel tones of my mixed media landscapes evoke the Maine coast and forest, layering gold leaf and mica powder to capture the shimmer of sun on the water, ancient glow of our granite shores, and comforting greens of pine groves. My landscapes are seasoned with the magical 'spices' of our land: birch trees, sea roses, mosses, and ferns (always needed for the spell to unfold); a playground for foxes, bunnies, deer, and owls. Maine creatures are my spiritual familiars. Each piece is created with deep intention, saving space for reflection, connection, and an unexpected path to ourselves.

Through art I communicate the inner workings of an epileptic life, where I shelter the storm and journey home to clarity. While my mind rewires, I create order of chaos with acrylic, ink, and charcoal. Zigs and zags are trees, lightning, radiant sunbeams. Dazed demons elevate into elegant forces of nature within the realm of spiritual surrealism. As Rilke wrote, “Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.” Love becomes an infinite series of mixed-media goddesses, mythical creatures, and re-imagined fairy tales. Method is embracing non-method, listening to inner voice, accepting mind, and opening heart.
