Hi, neighbor!

The posts below (and bio on my site) can count my Official About, as I'm already getting more "personal" than intended in my weekly updates. But art is as personal as you can get, so I'm already out there, right? Come visit for awhile, look at some paintings, browse the store, shoot around ideas, get acquainted, and talk shop. I love letters and will always write you back. Since hardly anyone reads blogs anymore, sometimes it feels like you're dropping a pebble into a well and never hear it splash. I love to make a splash.

Finding the Light in the Layers

Freya and one of her two cats. There's some spray ink on top of this one....which I made AFTER the pieces I'm writing about. I just loved this pair and wanted it to be the first thing. Oil pastel on 8x10 (or so) repurposed mat board. My usual portrait practice is an act of meditation and subtraction. With soft pastel and charcoal, I lay down dust and shadow, then begin to erase.
