Right As Rain Paintings at Camden's Gypsy Rose Tavern
Updated: Jul 1, 2023
At Gypsy Rose Tavern and Senator Inn and Spa, the decor is constantly changing, so business cards inevitably will fall off their colorful walls. Also, artists sometimes forget to post business cards at all and maybe still haven't typed up lists of paintings and prices for restaurants and spas kind enough to host them.
Cough, cough.
Point being, it's hard to see my prices and which of my paintings are/are not for sale. Some of these you'll recognize from my "Selected Works" page, but they just look so much better with those ornate OTT frames I'm addicted to. The size I listed is the size of the actual canvas or painting board, not including the circumference of frame, which are usually add about 3-4 inches all around. They take up a good amount of wall space and are on the heavy side, as they're usually sturdy wood covered with moulded resin, plaster, or bronze depending on whether it's a vintage/antique frame I renovated or a reproduction.
It's really hard to tell sizes of paintings from these photos. Not sure what's up with Wix design app, but I can't seem to get proportions right on the pics no matter how many times I adjust size. To get a better idea of Tripartite's proportions, please see my next blog post where it's hanging up over a table next to my spooky angels painting.
Taurus. Alcohol Ink, ink, oil, acrylic on 16X20 canvas. $875.
Leonora the Lioness. Alcohol ink, acrylic, oil, charcoal paste on 16X20 canvas. $875
Gemini. Acrylic, India ink, charcoal paste, oil detail on 20X30 artists' hardboard. $975
Eye of the Storm. Acrylic, moulding paste, oil on 36X48 (!) gallery wrapped canvas. $1750
Sidhe Falls. Acrylic, molding paste, oil, India ink on 30X40 gallery wrapped canvas. $1575.
Fly By Night. Acrylic, charcoal paste, alcohol ink, India ink on 36X48 canvas. $975
This is Wild Irish Rose, and I'm kind of hiding her down here because I feel like she's GRT's version of St. Pauly Girl --which is why she's so cartoony-- and would feel a little guilty selling her, but she's $750 and is for sale, She also sorta glows in the dark because I was experimenting with glow in the dark resin powder on her hourglass and the moonbeams reflecting on her face. Acrylic and oil on 18X24 canvas.
This one I hid, too, because it's spooky. I don't think it is, but some folks do. Jules, one of the chefs at GRT totally got that I was going for a Finnish love metal style, so. Blue Angels is about 24X32 (?) an interesting mix of plaster/spackle with charcoal and pastel ground deeply into it as a stain, then sprayed with a simple matte resin. Since it's a 2021, Blue Angels is only $675, despite the size. In my next entry you'll get a better idea of proportions as it's hanging next to Tripartite.
This last one here is called New Constellation. Since I thought it was kind of fall/winter style, I took it back home last week so can bring or ship it to you right from Augusta! Acrylic, pastel, distress, alcohol ink, oil detail on 16X20 canvas. So you aren't disappointed? That awesome frame isn't on it anymore, it's got a kinda bland gold brass one, and I can take a photo so you get a clearer idea. Which is why she's so inexpensive at $575. Plus shipping of course, if I'm mailing.
Think that's everything I have over in Camden at the moment. Ean has asked me to paint a Cernunnos, and I told him in no uncertain terms that any time I try to paint a guy they all either come out looking like a cousin of David Bowie or Jason Momoa's dad, but he's good with that, so I'll get to it.
